There are some dreams that do not begin with us. They begin years before us, in the prayers of our grandparents, in the sacrifices they never spoke about, in the quiet way they spent their entire lives putting everyone else before themselves. Ever since I got my first job, I have had only one dream of taking my grandparents to every spiritual place they had ever wished to visit, Char Dham, Kedarnath temple, Kashi, and all those places they watched on television with folded hands and devotion in their eyes.
And when my first salary got credited, I knew exactly where I wanted to spend it. There was not even a single thought of spending it on gadgets, clothes or parties; it was to spend it on them
I still remember that evening vividly. I wrote down random spiritual destinations on small paper-chits and folded them into a bowl. Dadu smiled while picking one, almost like a child participating in a lucky draw. And somehow, out of all the places, the chit he opened said: “Mahakaleshwar Temple, Ujjain.”
For a second, all of us just looked at each other and smiled, because if there is one thing that defines my grandparents, it is their devotion to Shiva. I have grown up watching Dadu worship Shiva every single morning without fail. And even today, Dadi keeps Monday fasts with the same faith and dedication she probably had decades ago. To me, they were always like a Shiv-Parvati couple in the purest sense, simple, peaceful, devoted and unshakable together.
And suddenly, this trip felt emotional. I immediately started planning everything, searching for the perfect luxury stay near Mahakal Temple, arranging leave from the office, planning the road trip, checking routes, and making sure the experience felt comfortable for them in every possible way. That is when I came across Golden Yug by SS (A luxury wellness resort located on the Indore–Ujjain corridor, just around 40 minutes away from the Mahakaleshwar Temple)
Honestly, while booking it, I only wanted one thing: PEACE
I did not want crowded hotels, noisy streets, or a rushed environment for my grandparents. I wanted them to feel relaxed, cared for, and comfortable. And somehow, Golden Yug turned out to be exactly what I was searching for without even knowing it.
On Friday morning, I packed the car, picked up Dadu and Dadi, and we set off for Ujjain. And the moment we entered Golden Yug by SS, I knew I had made the right decision. The city noise disappeared almost instantly. It was just open skies, greenery, fresh air, silence, and a peaceful atmosphere that felt deeply comforting. Dadi’s first reaction was simply: “Yahan kitni shanti hai.” And honestly, that one sentence made the entire trip worth it for me.
What I loved most about the property was that it did not feel like one of those luxury resorts trying too hard to impress people. Instead, it felt warm, thoughtful, and connected to nature. Even the food tasted so different and fresh. Their farm-to-table dining is not just a fancy concept written on menus. You can actually feel the freshness in everything served. Seasonal veggies, which are freshly produced, and simple flavours made all our meals lighter and healthier than regular hotel food. And you have to agree with me on this, travelling with grandparents, it matters a lot more than people realise.
Dadu especially loved sitting outdoors during breakfast while the morning sun slowly lit up the property. Dadi kept smiling, seeing fresh fruits, open gardens, and peaceful surroundings everywhere. For the first time in a long while, none of us was in a hurry.
The next morning, we left early for Mahakal darshan. Watching Dadu and Dadi inside the temple was one of the most emotional moments of my life. And after the darshan, returning to the calmness of Golden Yug by SS somehow completed the experience beautifully.
Usually, spiritual trips become physically exhausting because of the crowds and constant movement, but staying at Golden Yug balanced everything perfectly. Close enough to Mahakaleshwar Temple for convenience, yet peaceful enough to let you truly absorb the spiritual energy of Ujjain without feeling overwhelmed. And perhaps that is what makes this property so special. It is not just a luxury resort near Mahakal Temple. It is a place where people reconnect with nature, with family, with peace, and sometimes even with themselves.
As I watched my grandparents smiling peacefully during the trip, I realised something very important. Luxury is not always chandeliers, expensive interiors, or five-star labels. It is simply watching the people you love feel peaceful. And long after returning home, that is exactly what stayed with me about Golden Yug by SS and the feeling it created around the people I love the most.
